Laura, Laura Everywhere

     We had an exciting and surprising field trip to Laura Plantation! We will also be beginning our last class novel, Little House in the Big Woods, by Laura Ingalls Wilder.  We will compare the lives of both Lauras.  Both lived very long and interesting lives!

May Crowning

     A representative is chosen by each homeroom for the May Crowning. A third grade student is chosen by her classmates to be the crown bearer.  Each girl is asked to bring a flower to give to Mary.  The girls will wear their uniforms.

Author! Author!

     We have begun our Written and Illustrated by…project.  Please see the attached sheet that specifies the deadlines for the project.  We will be assembling the books from May 18-21.  Any parent who is able to help us, please contact your daughter’s homeroom teacher by note or by e-mail.

Let’s Party!

     Our Authors’ Tea to celebrate our completed books will be Monday, May 24 at 10:30.  Parents are invited to come to our homeroom first where your daughter and her class will share their books with you.  Then, we will go to Mater Hall for some refreshments.  The girls may leave following the reception. 

     Any parent who would like to help the room mothers with the reception should please contact the room mothers directly.

Each child should come to school that day dressed as a character or important object from her book.

May 24           Authors’ Tea (10:30 in HR; then, Mater Hall)

May 24-25      12:15 dismissal

May 26           Last day of school (10:30 dismissal)
