NURSERY
The Nursery girls are having a grand time in music class. We have learned each other’s names by hearing them played on various instruments, danced with scarves to music, added instrument sounds to help tell stories, like Bunny’s Noisy Book, and learned that music is high, low, loud and soft…AND that music has a steady beat…always!
PRE-KINDERGARTEN
Pre-K girls are learning their first notes by solfeggio, incorporating hand signals and syllables to learn notes. We have learned songs describing how much God loves us and that He created us “special.” We have used instruments on the steady beat in certain songs, and we are beginning to learn the basics of playing melodic Orff instruments.
KINDERGARTEN
Kindergarten girls studied the Music Room’s Tempo Cats as they begin to understand that music moves in many different ways. The girls were introduced to Camille Saint-Saëns and the instruments of the orchestra in our study of his Carnival of the Animals. The girls are about to begin to learn reading rhythms and note values, which is fun and challenging.
