- Handle the disc only by
the outer edge or center hole to prevent fingerprints and smears on the surface.
- Store the disc in a
protective case. Plastic cases are better than paper sleeves.
- Do not write on the
surface of the disc with a pencil or pen. Use a felt tip or
sharpie to label CDs.
- Do not leave the disc in
direct sunlight or in a hot, humid environment.
- To clean the disc use a soft, lint-free cloth to remove spots, dust or fingerprints.
Gently wipe from the center to the outside edge and
never wipe in a circular motion.
Things to remember:
- A scratch can damage the
disc and destroy data
- Food, liquids and
fingerprints can make the disc unreadable
- Heat can warp a disc
