Project 1: Create a paper T-shirt which highlights your
summer activities.
Instructions:
Open Microsoft
Word.
Change
the margins by going to File---Page setup. Change the top margin to
1.5, the bottom margin to 0.5, the left margin to 2.5, and
the right margin to 2.5, by clicking the up or down arrows next to the
numbers.
Center all of
your information on the page by clicking the Center key on the tool bar.
Viewing tool
bars: Make sure that your drawing tool
bar is displayed by clicking the View
button on the menu bar, scroll down to Toolbars
then over to Drawing. If there is no check in front of Drawing,
click it so that you can select it and the drawing tool bar will appear.
On the Drawing
tool bar select the symbol for WordArt.
It is a blue, slanted “A”. After
clicking the “A”, select the WordArt design you would like by clicking it then
clicking OK.
In the shaded
area where it says “Your Text Here”,
type in T-rrific Summer” then
click OK.
After typing in
your title, make sure your cursor is at the end of the line then press the
enter key twice. Type, in short phrases
or sentences, about what you did this summer.
Make sure your work is centered by clicking on the CENTER key. After each
phrase or sentence, press the enter key twice so that it is double-spaced.
After typing all
of your information you may select one picture to go on the bottom of the page.
Make sure it is centered. Select a picture that represents what you did this
summer. Click the symbol for clipart or
you can go to INSERT on the
menu bar then select PICTURE
then scroll over to CLIPART.
On the clipart
menu, type in a word that you would like to search for. For example:
beach, sun, park etc. then click
the SEARCH button.
A list of
pictures will come up and you make select the one you want. Please be patient because the pictures begin
to display slowly.
Once you have
found a picture you like, click on it to put it on your page. Make sure your
cursor is at the bottom, center of your page before you select your picture.
Always do a spell
check before printing your work. Click
the “ABC√” symbol on the menu bar to check your spelling.
After your work
has been checked by the teacher you may print to the color printer.
To create the
t-shirt, fold the paper in half, lengthwise without creasing it.
Cut the paper
from the bottom (on the open side) and go up about 3/4ths of the way up.
Unfold paper and
cut a scoop at the top in the middle. Click here for illustrations.
