T-rrific Summer

Project 1:  Create a paper T-shirt which highlights your summer activities.

Instructions:

*    Open Microsoft Word.

*    Change the margins by going to File---Page setup. Change the top margin to 1.5, the bottom margin to 0.5, the left margin to 2.5, and the right margin to 2.5, by clicking the up or down arrows next to the numbers.

*    Center all of your information on the page by clicking the Center key on the tool bar.

*    Viewing tool bars:  Make sure that your drawing tool bar is displayed by clicking the View button on the menu bar, scroll down to Toolbars then over to Drawing.  If there is no check in front of Drawing, click it so that you can select it and the drawing tool bar will appear.

*    On the Drawing tool bar select the symbol for WordArt.  It is a blue, slanted “A”.  After clicking the “A”, select the WordArt design you would like by clicking it then clicking OK.

*    In the shaded area where it says “Your Text Here”,  type in T-rrific Summer” then click OK.

*    After typing in your title, make sure your cursor is at the end of the line then press the enter key twice.  Type, in short phrases or sentences, about what you did this summer.  Make sure your work is centered by clicking on the CENTER key.  After each phrase or sentence, press the enter key twice so that it is double-spaced.

*    After typing all of your information you may select one picture to go on the bottom of the page. Make sure it is centered. Select a picture that represents what you did this summer.  Click the symbol for clipart or you can go to INSERT on the menu bar then select PICTURE then scroll over to CLIPART.

*    On the clipart menu, type in a word that you would like to search for.  For example:  beach, sun, park etc. then click the SEARCH button.

*    A list of pictures will come up and you make select the one you want.  Please be patient because the pictures begin to display slowly.

*    Once you have found a picture you like, click on it to put it on your page.  Make sure your cursor is at the bottom, center of your page before you select your picture.

*    Always do a spell check before printing your work.  Click the “ABC√” symbol on the menu bar to check your spelling.

*    After your work has been checked by the teacher you may print to the color printer.

*    To create the t-shirt, fold the paper in half, lengthwise without creasing it.

*    Cut the paper from the bottom (on the open side) and go up about 3/4ths of the way up.

*    Unfold paper and cut a scoop at the top in the middle.  Click here for illustrations.
