My Dream Bedroom

If you could decorate your bedroom anyway you wanted to, how would you do it?  Imagine that you had $500 just to spend on your Dream Bedroom.  What would you buy?  What’s an absolute must have?  Well today you get to do just that (pretend, of course).  You can buy whatever you want as long as you don’t go over your budget of $500.  You must, however, do the following:

  1. Shop for your items online.  You can use the stores listed below or you can go to some of your own favorite places to shop.  Try to shop at more than one store to find the best bargains.
  2. Download the pictures of the items you want to purchase and save them into your “Dream Bedroom" folder.   After all of your pictures have been downloaded, you will insert them into a Word document.  Underneath each picture you will put the name of the store where it was purchased and the price of the item.  Spread your pictures out and make good use of your space.
  3. Create a spreadsheet in Microsoft Excel to keep a running tab of how much money you are spending, making sure NOT to go over your budget of $500. (will do this together as a class)
  4. Create a bar chart to illustrate how your money is being spent. (will explain)
  5. Create a booklet of your Dream Bedroom, after all of the purchases have been made, the spreadsheet and bar chart have been created, and the pictures of all purchased items along with prices and names of the stores have been printed.  Your title page will be, example, “Susie's Dream Bedroom”.  The inside will contain the pictures of the items you have purchased along with the prices and name of the store, and a copy of your spreadsheet and chart.
  6. Design your title page.  You can use MS Word, Print Shop or Glogster.  You will include the title, (ex. "Susie's Dream Bedroom") and a picture of yourself. You can decorate your page anyway you like.
