      Selena was a great singer.  Her full name was Selena Quintanilla Perez.  She was born April 16,1971 in Lake Jackson, Texas.    Her parents were Abraham and Marcella Quintanilla.  She also had a brother, A.B. III and a sister, Suzette.  She married Chris Perez  on April 2, 1992.  Selena was good at singing, acting, and being on TV.  

     Selena had her first concert at the age of  10.  In 1983 she made her first record.  She  received the  Female Vocalist of the Year and Performer of the Year awards at the Tejano Music Awards in 1987.  Selena won many awards including a Grammy for best Mexican-American performance for "Selena Live".  Selena also started her own clothing manufacturing business know as Selena Etc.                                

   Selena Quintanilla Perez died March 13, 1999.
