Find the picture you want to download. Point to it and click it with the right-mouse button. Scroll down to "save image as" or "save picture as" and click it with the left-mouse button. Decide where you want to save the picture (for example, the desktop, your H:, your W: drive, your flash drive, etc.). It will already have a filename but you can change the name to something you will recognize (keep file names short). Just click the SAVE button and your picture is downloaded. NOTE: If using the picture to place in a web page, the filename should not have spaces.

To put the picture you have downloaded from the Internet into a document, go to "INSERT "on the menu bar. Then scroll down to "PICTURE" then scroll to "FROM FILE". 1. How do I create a
folder for organizing my files?
To create a folder, first double-click on "My Computer" which is located on the desktop. Then click on the drive you wish to create the folder in
(for example, H:, or M:, etc.). After you have selected the place where you want to create your folder, in a blank space click the right-mouse button. Then scroll down to "NEW" then scroll over to "Folder". The folder will appear and the words "new folder" should be highlighted in blue. Simply type a name for your folder (a name that is relevant to what you will be using it for). Once you have typed your file name, click off into a blank space twice to deselect the folder. If you would like to rename the folder, click on it with the right-mouse button, scroll down to and click "rename". Then simply type another name for the folder. Remember to click off into a blank space twice to deselect the folder.
2. How do I get
the toolbars that I need for word-processing?
In Microsoft Word, to select or deselect toolbars, go to "VIEW" on the menu bar and scroll down to "Toolbars". Click on the toolbar that you would like to have available. This will put a check in front of it. You will have to go through the steps for each toolbar you would like to select. The toolbars that have a check in front of them are already available to you. The ones that do not have a check in front of them are not available and you will have to select it by clicking them one at a time.

Release the left mouse button and click the text, while highlighted, with the right-mouse button. Scroll down to copy. Then release the mouse. To change your text in Microsoft Word to all lowercase, uppercase or mixed case, you simply highlight the text you want to change, press and hold the "Shift" key then press the "F3" key (Shift F3). Press it again to change the text, and press it a third time to change it again.

To change the page orientation to print in landscape. First go to "File" then "Print". Once you get to the print menu click "Properties". After you have selected properties, select the tab that says either "Basics" or "Features" depending on your particular computer. After selecting the tab, you should see "Orientation". Select the orientation you need (Landscape or Portrait), then press okay. (Note: Portrait is your default setting)To change a document layout from portrait to landscape: Go to "FILE" on the menu bar. Scroll down to "Page Setup". In the "Margins" tab under Orientation change from portrait to landscape and vice versa.

To resize a picture click on it one time to select it. There may be small boxes/dots around the picture. Click the picture with the left-mouse button, in the corner to resize to keep it proportional. Once you have clicked the corner box (top left/right or bottom left/right) hold it and drag it out to make it larger or drag it in to make it smaller. Release the mouse when finished.
Web Page Design:
1. How do I add a background color to my web page?
To add a background color to a web page, click in the background area with the right-mouse button. Scroll down to "Page Properties". Select the "background" tab. Under "Colors", click the arrow next to "background" and select the color you would like. If you have downloaded a picture from the Internet (#1 under Internet Questions) and would like to use that as a background for your web page, go through same steps except in the "Background" tab look under "Formatting" and put a check "Background picture" box, then click "browse" to find the picture you downloaded (saved). NOTE: All pictures should be downloaded to your web page folder.

An word or picture in on a web page that links to another place on the same page or an entirely different web page. You point your mouse to and click on the hyperlink to follow the link to a new location. It is one of the most important ingredients in a web document.
3. How do I turn my text or graphic into a hyperlink on my web page?
To turn your text or graphic into a hyperlink, you first highlight the text by clicking and dragging your mouse over the words or selecting the graphic by clicking it one time. You then right click on the highlighted text or selected graphic to get a drop-down menu. Drag your mouse down to "Hyperlink" or while it is selected you can go to "Insert" on the menu bar and scroll down to "Hyperlink". Next, in the "look in" area scroll down and find the document you wish to link to. Or in the open bar area at the bottom that says "Address:" type in the address of the link (example: http://www.ashrosary.org) then click on save. NOTE: You must have something to link to. A page must be created first before you can link it unless you're linking to an outside web page such as ASH that already exists.
4. How do I name a web page file?
When naming a file for a web page remember their should be NO SPACES in the filename. The only special character that you can use is the underscore ( _ ). The names should be as short as possible and relevant to the document. The same is true for pictures downloaded from the Internet. Examples: Acceptable filenames: joggingman, jogging_man, JoggingMan (although best practice is to use all lowercase); Unacceptable filenames: jogging man, jogging/man, jogging*man.
