Syllabus

Objectives: In this course, students use multimedia and design to obtain a deeper understanding of computer technology and its capabilities.  Students will work with hypermedia, presentation, and web page design programs to create multi-media projects integrating text, graphics, sound, animation, photography, and video resources as well as interfacing with a range of hardware, such as CD's, scanners, and video digitizers.  Students also learn how to use a desktop publishing program to design layouts as well as a range of graphics programs and tools to incorporate art work, graphics and photographs into their publications.

Software and Hardware:

Presentation and Publication Programs (Hyperstudio, PowerPoint, FrontPage, Publisher)
Paint and Graphics Programs (Paint, PhotoEditor, Image Composer, Gif Animator)
Hardware (Scanner, ArtPad, Digital Camera, Digital Video, WebCam, VCR, microphone)
Other software (Pinnacle, Video Producer, Adaptec CD Creator)

Grading: Grades are determined according to the Guidelines of Grading in the Parent/Student Handbook.  Assignments and grades are transmitted electronically (via e-mail).

Policies: Students are expected to follow the policies set forth in the Parent/Student Handbook. Students who miss work due to an absence need to arrange for additional lab time to make up the work immediately upon their return to class.
