SBE Curriculum Course Organizer for Computer
Objective: Students will gain an understanding of the ethical and responsible use of technology, briefly examine the history of computers, and learn about the different components of the computer. Students will gain a working knowledge of various application software, including Windows, word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation, desktop publishing, and the Internet.

| Windows (using the mouse and keyboard to execute commands, explore menus, manipulate windows, get help, use the task bar, execute searches, find files, manage files, and work with files and folders) | |

| MS Access (creating databases, conducting queries, and producing reports) | |

Grading: Grades are determined according to the Guidelines of Grading in the Parent/Student Handbook. Assignments and grades are transmitted electronically (via e-mail).

Policies: Students are expected to follow the policies set forth in the Parent/Student Handbook. Students who miss work due to an absence need to arrange for additional lab time to make up the work immediately upon their return to class.
Other: Students are advised to keep a sense of humor and think positively when working with computers! Through careful scientific study, the instructor has determined that whining and complaining does not help you get the computer to do what you want it to do, nor does it endear you to those around you (including the instructor) who might be in a position to help you. (The complete research study on this is available from the instructor upon request.)
