Scientific Method
Welcome little scientists. As you know, we have been hard at work learning about the scientific method. The scientific method is the five steps that scientists use whenever they conduct an experiment. Since we are scientists we use these five steps to make sure that we, too, are conducting our experiments correctly.
Step 1
Question... We
always have to ask a question that we want to be able to answer by the end of
the experiment. This question sets the whole purpose for the experiment.
Step 2
Hypothesis... This is your educated guess. What do you think is
going to happen? Remember...it is alright if your hypothesis turns out
to be incorrect. You are not allowed to change your hypothesis once the
experiment begins.
Step 3
Experiment...Now comes the fun. It is time to do your experiment.
Remember to follow the steps
of the experiment in
order. Pay attention to what is happening.
Step 4
Record
your results... This is actually a step that you do during your experiment.
You need to keep a record of what is happening in your experiment. You can
use drawings, words, or even photographs as a way to record your data. Use
your five senses

in this step.
Step 5
Conclusion... this
is the final step. You will write not only what happened in your
experiment but also why it happened. What did you learn? You also
need to write if your hypothesis was correct.
