~~~~Welcome to Mr. Stephen's Webpage~~~~
Using scale drawing,
the sixth grade math students selected a color comic strip from the Sunday
Times-Picayune and enlarged it to best fit on a white poster board. To do this,
they measured the length and width of the comic strip in centimeters to create a
grid on the comic strip. They then decided on how many centimeters the comic
strip would be on the poster for each centimeter on the actual comic strip,
understanding that the entire comic strip must fit on the poster board. They
created a very light grid on the poster board, to be erased at the end of the
project. They had to make sure that the colors and orientation matched on each
comic strip, their chosen one and their creation. They were scored on how
closely their creation resembled the original comic.
