The
Rosary Alumnae Association, founded in 1913, was the very first in the
Network of Sacred Heart schools, even pre-dating the Associated Alumnae
of the Sacred Heart. (AASH)
The purpose of the Association is to promote the interests of the Rosary
Academy of the Sacred Heart; to strengthen the bonds of friendship among
Association members, the religious and the faculty; and to foster the
ideals developed under the educational system of St. Madeleine Sophie
Barat by supporting the goals and criteria of Sacred Heart education.
Membership is open to pupils of the Rosary and of any school or college
of the Sacred Heart. A member is in good standing when she has paid annual
dues of this Association. We have over 2500 living alumnae residing in
47 of the United States as well as 42 members through out Canada, Europe
and South America. There are 1,561 members in the Metropolitan area.
The Alumnae Board is comprised of 38 members and meets 5 times a year.
There are 8 executive members and 30 committee chairs who assist in planning
and hosting educational, social and spiritual events through out the school
year. Approximately 30 alumnae have attended AASH national conferences
over the years. Eight alumnae have served on the Associated Alumnae of
the Sacred Heart board; all have been elected officers. Two alumnae from
our association have been Cor Unum award recipients; an honor bestowed
every two years at the national conference. One hundred five alumnae members
belong to the Children of Mary sodality.
The alumnae association commemorates many of life's special events through
it's Memorial and Tribute Fund. The alumnae association coordinated the
effort to restore the chapel organ.
